Body painting

Along with painting on canvases, hippies also painted on themselves. With body painting, there was a rebirth of the arts in the 1960's. Hippies expressed themselves with body paint. Hippies saw that it was ideal and of one's own comfort to adorn themselves with body paint. Hippies often painted their whole body, therefore being nude. Hippies realized that the human body is beautiful and there was no reason why the body should be hidden with clothes. Hippies were all about being happy and free. The yellow smiley face circle is known worldwide as a symbol of happiness and was often found painted on a hippie's body but they also used some floral themes.
